INDIA’S FOREIGN TRADE: APRIL-NOVEMBER, 2001-2002

India's Exports during April-November, 2001-2002 are valued at US $ 28850.81 million which is 0.5% higher than the level of US $ 28708.14 million during April- November, 2000-2001. In rupee terms, the exports were Rs.136608.78 crores, which is 5.15% higher than the value of exports during April- November, 2000-2001.

Exports during November 2001 are valued at US $ 3722.11 million which is 3.29% higher than the level of US $ 3603.58 million in November 2000. In rupee terms the exports were Rs.17864.15 crores, which is 5.97% higher than the value of exports during November,2000.

India's Imports during April- November, 2001-2002 are valued at US $ 34723.77 million representing a growth of 1.19% over the level of imports valued at US $ 34314.48 million in April- November, 2000-2001.

Oil imports during April- November, 2001-2002 are valued at US $ 9851.06 million which is 13.18% lower than oil imports valued at US $ 11347.13 million in the corresponding period last year. Non-oil imports during April- November , 2001-2002 are estimated at US $ 24872.71 million which is 8.30% higher than the level of such imports valued at US $ 22967.35 million in April-November, 2000-2001.

Imports during November 2001 are valued at US $ 4181.34 million which is 10.97 lower than the level of US $ 4696.60 million in November, 2000. In Rupee terms the imports decreased by 8.66%.

The trade deficit for April- November, 2001-2002 is estimated at US $ 5872.96 million which is higher than the deficit at US $ 5606.34 million during April- November , 2000-2001.

Tables giving details of exports, imports and trade balance, according to the provisional estimates of Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence & Statistics (DGCI&S), are attached.
