The total bilateral trade between India and Brazil has increased from US $ 589.14 million in 2003-04 to US $ 3837.39 million in 2008-09.
FOCUS LAC Programme of this Department is in force which provides a number of incentives and financial assistance for supporting and encouraging Indian exporters / companies to boost our trade with Latin America in which Brazil is a major partner. A Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) between India and MERCOSUR (Brazil being one of the major members of this economic bloc) is in operation since June, 2009. Besides , buyer seller meets / business seminars are held every year in India and Brazil by the leading Chamber Commerce & Industry / apex Trade Bodies of the two sides focusing important sectors of mutual interest to enhance bilateral trade.
