EXPORTS CONTINUE TO SHOW DOUBLE DIGIT GROWTH INDIA'S FOREIGN TRADE DATA: APRIL-NOVEMBER 2000-2001

India’s exports during April-November 2000-2001 are valued at US $ 28609.59 million (i.e. $ 28.60 billion) which is 20.56 % higher than the level of US $ 23730.49 million (i.e. $ 23.73 billion) during April-November 1999-2000. In rupee terms, the exports were Rs 129459.74 crore, which is 26.17 % higher than the value of exports during April-November 1999-2000. Exports during November 2000 are valued at US $ 3538.21 million ($ 3.53 billion) which is 20.31% higher than the level of US $ 2940.96 million in November, 1999. In rupee terms, the exports were Rs 16551.36 crore, which is 29.68% higher than the value of exports during October 1999.

India’s imports during April-November 2000-2001 are valued at US $ 34786.82 million representing a growth of 14.44% over the level of imports valued at US $ 30398.51 million in April-November 1999-2000. Oil imports during April-November 2000-2001 are valued at US $ 11347.14 million which is 82.96% higher than oil imports valued at US $ 6202.07 million in the corresponding period last year. Non-oil imports during April-November 2000-2001 are estimated at US $ 23439.68 million which is 3.13% lower than the level of such imports valued at US $ 24196.44 million in April-November 1999-2000. Imports during November 2000 are valued at US $ 4494.93 million which is 18.42% higher than the level of US $ 3795.83 million in November 1999. In rupee terms, the imports increased by 27.65%.

The trade deficit for April-November 2000-2001 is estimated at US $ 6177.23 million which is lower than the deficit at US $ 6668.02 million during April-November 1999-2000.

Tables giving details of exports, imports and trade balance, according to the provisional estimates of Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence & Statistics (DGCI&S), are attached.
