DIGVIJAY SINGH TAKES OVER AS MINISTER OF STATE FOR COMMERCE & INDUSTRY

Shri Digvijay Singh assumed charge today as Minister of State for Commerce & Industry. Shri Digvijay Singh, who was earlier the Minister of State for Railways succeeds Shri Omar Abdullah. He represents the Lok Sabha constituency of Banka (Bihar) and belongs to Janata Dal (Samata).
Educated at Patna University and the Jawaharlal Nehru University, Shri Digvijay Singh has served on various Committees including the Consultative Committee of the Ministry of External Affairs in 1998-99 and as Member, Committee on Rules and Committee on Defence during 1990-96. He had served as Union Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of External Affairs during 1990-91. Following re-election to the 13th Lok Sabha for a second term in 1999, he served as Union Minister of State for Railways from 13th October 1999 till 23rd July, 2001.
